Column heading and detail misalignment after upgrading Crystal Report Runtime

$

0

We have our Crystal Reports to view from our web server system.  The web server has our web site set up using ASP.Net and VB.Net.  Our current web server has Windows 7 as the OS and has Crystal Report Runtime 32-bit version 13.0.9 (CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_9.msi) installed on it.  We use the Crystal Report Viewer to view the reports.  It has been working fine on that system.

Recently we have been planning on moving our web site to a new faster web server system. The new system is running Windows Server 2012 R2 as the OS.  On the new system, I have installed Crystal Report Runtime 32-bit version 13.0.9 (CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_9.msi).

When I got our web site up and running on the new system, I started testing viewing our reports.  The Crystal Report Viewer would not show at all.  After doing some research on the web, I have found that some old versions of the Crystal Report Runtime does not work with IIS Manager version 8.  So I have downloaded and installed Crystal Report Runtime 32-bit version 13.0.16 (CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_16.msi)  from your web site.

Now the Crystal Report Viewer is shown but now alot of our reports have columns where the heading and detail is misaligned.  On our current web server, all the reports have columns that are aligned correctly.

My workstation PC is running Windows 7 and has a copy of our web site locally running on it.  My workstation PC has IIS Manager version 7.  When my workstation PC had Crystal Report Runtime 32-bit version 13.0.9 (CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_9.msi) installed on it, all the reports have columns that are aligned correctly.  After I had Crystal Report Runtime 32-bit version 13.0.16 (CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_16.msi)  installed on it which basically updated the old runtime to the new runtime, my workstation PC is showing the same problem as the new web server system is showing.  That means the OS and version of IIS Manager does not make any difference.

Attached are 2 screenshots of one of our reports.

The first shows how the report looks on our current web server system.

The second shows how the report looks on our new web server system and my workstation PC.  Note that the detail for PO Total column detail is pushed to the left overlapping the Date/Time value in PO Date column.  PO Total column is a numeric field on the report and is right aligned not left aligned.  I have verified that the Column heading and detail for PO Total column is right aligned.

Yet when I export the report to a PDF file using the Crystal Report Viewer from the web site on the new web server or my workstation PC, all the columns are aligned correctly.

It appears the Crystal Report Viewer is showing it incorrectly.

What is causing this problem?

What to do to resolve this problem?

Please help me as soon as possible.

Let me know if you need additional information and/or screenshots.

Sincerely,

Keith Jackson

Crystal Report for Visual Studio deployment

I used to do an update from my Visual Studio 2005 with Crystal Report successfully to Visual Studio 2013 with Crystal Report 13_0_16.

I was able to modify a  Crystal Report document with this new version, to compile it and to install it on a customer server.

Of course the site does not work any more (framework change 2 --> 4, etc.):

What is necessary to install for the deployment on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003 ? :

Is it necessary to install a redistribuable  Crystal Report on each customer server ? (wiitch version ?)

What do we have to change in IIS ?

What else?

Is there an exhaustive procedure of deployment of Crystal Report for Visual Studio 2013 (even paying)?

Many thanks for your answers

Report ignores line feeds from database field!

Hello,

we have a erp application which stores data in a mysql database.
After upgrading crystal reports from version 8.5 to 2013 (.NET Version for visual studio) the reports ignore carriage return line feeds at the end of a text field.
Sometimes our customers have a text field with following data, e.x.:

Line1
Line2
Line3

After Line3 they enter 3 line feeds. But since upgrading the version of crystal reports the report ignores the line feeds at the end of the database-field.
Is that a bug (or a terrible feature?). How can it be solved?

vs2010 Crystal Reports Database Expert Links Tab is empty

$

I have a VS2010 project that uses Crystal Reports.  The report data source is a strongly typed DataSet with linked (parent-child) DataTables. When I open the Crystal Reports Database Expert I can see my DataSet in the Available Data Sources and move the tables to the Selected Tables list.  However, in the Links tab I don't see any tables or table links.  This makes it impossible to change a link from inner join to outer join.

The Report designer itself works - I can drop fields into the report.  So the DataTables are registered with the report.  I just can't change the table link types.  I also tried a direct database data source with the same results - t he Links tab remains empty so I don't think it's a DataSet/DataTable issue.

I have tried installing different versions of the SAP VS2010 Crystal Reports tool, from version 13.0.0 to 13.0.15.  None have helped.  Currently I have version 13.0.15.1840 installed.

The Links tab has worked for me before, months ago.  I've just returned to maintain some reports and saw this issue.

I attached screen captures of the Database Expert tabs to show the Data tab, Links tab and the Order Links dialog.

Can someone tell me how I can get the Database Expert Links tab to show my tables and links?

Hi,

We recently setup a new terminal server 2012 for our SoftPoint users, who run crystal reports along with various other things like invoices, receipts through that program.

Users have been reporting that they are unable to pull reports on new terminal server as it hangs on Preview. We then have to kill it through Task Manger to close the program.

This doesn't happen on our old terminal server 2003 which is still in use and we can't move users to new one now until this issue sorted out.

I've been working on this and can't figure it out as to what could be causing this on server 2012.

I do know that SAP Crystal reports 13.0.15.1840 is compatible with Server 2012 but still reports not loading.

In some cases, if reports pulled successfully but it opened empty data but it would open with data on server 2003.

I've installed all the windows updates with latest .NET Framework 4.6, not sure if missing something here that is not installed.

Can someone please help me overcome this issue?

Thanks

Flash.ocx bug on Win7 pc's with installshield 2015 and VS 2013??

Hi all.

Not sure if this is a bug that’s been fixed or not, but thought I’d mention it just in case – please feel free to remove the post if not relevant - or correct me if i have done something wrong!

(Using CR13_0_15 for visual studio and the same run-time version on client laptops..)

I have Windows 10 with Visual Studio 2013 Update 5 and recently attached Install Shield 2015 Limited edition to my project.

I upgraded the Install Shield project from 2013 to 2015 when asked to by the upgrade wizard and all seemed well.

My project happily installed on windows 8 and 10, but I received a “Flash.ocx registration failed” error when deploying to windows 7 machines – however the app ran OK despite this.

After spending a day trying to figure out why only windows 7 pc’s are affected I decided to backtrack and try the same project but with the older 2013 installer.

I can now deploy the project on windows 7, 8 and 10 with no error messages on any platform.

So there’s something (I don’t know what it is) that’s giving me an ocx error when deploying my apps on windows 7 only,  using VS2013 with Install Shield 2015 – so if anyone out there has a similar problem then you might want to investigate this combination first?

Anyway – there you go - i'm sorry i don't have an explanation or any other information.

Hope it helps someone – perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can explain why?

Error 1723 after upgrading InstallShield project to include 13.0.16 merge module

$

I have an existing InstallShield (Basic MSI) project that has been working perfectly and included the version 13.0.8 (SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4) merge module.

I just recently downloaded the 13.0.16 merge module and upgraded my project to merge in this version instead of the 13.0.8. I confirmed when I built the project that it did merge in the newer version.

The project built successfully, but when testing out running the resulting installer *.exe that I built on a dev machine, I get "Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action RemoveLink, entry: RemoveLink, library: C:\...\MSIAE45.tmp".

The primary thing that I changed in my project, which used to run successfully with the 13.0.8 version, was to upgrade this to 13.0.16. I also changed the Product Code and Package Code but left the Upgrade Code alone and the project is set up to upgrade previous versions with that Upgrade Code.

I opened up the 13.0.16 merge module file in InstallShield and I see the RemoveLink custom action in there so I believe it has to do with the upgrade to 13.0.16. Am I missing any prerequisites that 13.0.16 requires?

I looked for a list of prerequisites but I could not find any information on that.

Please let me know if you need any more information on my set up.

Thank you,

   - Mickie

Need to set default for a prompt - Not the default values.

We use 2013 VS and Crystal Reports 2013. From the code behind I need to set the parameter default – not just the default values. I have everything working very well, but it seems the default property is not accessible – that should be what is set that the user can take as a default. This is usually something like a from date or thru date. I can set default values and they have to pick from a list. If I set Current Values the report will not prompt for the parameter on first display. I don’t want to do a refresh as there are parameters that I want hidden from the user in many cases and a refresh will display those as prompts. Thanks for any help you can get me or refer me to what my next step should be.

Change Selection Formula after Printing

$

Hi,

we handle our printing with C#-Code. We set all Information for Printing and set first time the selection formula. Now we start the printing. (We use the internal RAS and also ReportDocumnt.Print(...))

Now we change the selectionformula and print a second time. Now it comes only the skeleton of the report without data.

It is possible to print twice on the same report-object with different selection formula?

Crystal Report 2008 runtime performance differences between enviroments

$

I have multiple environments where we use the 2008 runtime (Service Pack 7- Fix Pack 2) to run crystal reports through a ASP.NET application.  Our QA web server for some reason has the best performance out of all of the other web servers, and we've been trying to pinpoint exactly what makes it faster than the other boxes that have more powerful hardware and memory.

To do this, I downloaded the Modules.zip program that I saw linked a couple of times through out this forum and used it on our two environments for comparison sake.  I noticed that on the good performing QA box, these two .DLLs are loaded into memory when a report is ran (crtslv.dll and datadefmodel_res_en.dll) but not on the other poor performance boxes.  We also had other odd issues such as not being able to run crystal reports that uses an ORACLE stored procedure unless we created a public synonym to those stored procedures on the poor performing web servers.  Our QA environment however, can run them just find without the synonyms.  I think this is all due to the datadefmodel_res_en.dll not being loaded up and being used on the poor performing web servers.

Is there a way to force that or correct this issue?  Are there other troubleshooting steps I should be taking to try to pin point other potential causes?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Round to Tenth in Version 13.0.2000.0

Hello.  We have a data table passing 2 digit values into a report which is formatted to round to tenth.  We're getting inconsistent results.  Can you please tell me the rounding strategy that is used in this version?  It doesn't seem to follow round up, down, to even, or to odd strategies.  Below are some examples:

0.45 = 0.4

3.45 = 3.5

1.35 = 1.4

4.35 = 4.3

1.65 = 1.7

4.65 = 4.6

2.55 = 2.5

5.55 = 5.6

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Zebra label printing is minature

Hi

We are having printing issues when printing to a zebra label printer using driver ZDesigner GK420t version 5.1.7.5682.

The label comes out minature in size. The label prints correctly when running from the crystal "Preview" window.

Any or all formatting commands using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions I give in the code to try to alleviate are ignored and its the same result each time.

We are using

VB dot net (2013) desktop app dot net framework version 4 on Windows server 2008 R2

Crystal reports 64 bit version 13.0.10

User paper size of 100mm by 50 mm

Dissacossiatefromprinter is checked and the report is set to the correct paper size.

Can you help

VS2015 missing prerequisites for CR

After uninstalling CR for VS version 13.x.13 and VS2010 Pro from my system, I installed VS2015 Pro and then Cr for VS.  Now existing setup projects no longer have the prerequisite for SAP Crystal Reports Runtime Engine for .NET Framework 4.0. I opened the .vbproj file for the setup and it's listed there but when viewed in the Prerequisite dialog there is nothing for SAP.  I did see the first time but it said it was missing, so I unchecked it, to re-add, but after that it's been none existent in any setup project not even a new one.

I can manually install the run-time I've downloaded from the SAP site and all will run fine, but now my setup is a 2 step process.  Instal SAP CR, then Install my application.

Here is the part of the setup .vbproj.

Hi,  I am new to crystal report viewer in wpf and have a couple of problems.  I have the report viewer showing the report and when I click the print button I get an unhandled exception. Is this a known issue!

I would also like to add a button to the viewer do you have an example of achieving this?

Data refresh on reprint

I have a c# application that uses a report to print a document, if a mistake is discovered in the data they can edit the data and reprint the document. The updated data appears on the screen but the document does not reflect the updated data unless we close the form and reopen, reselect the record and then reprint. In the report the data comes from a view in the database. I have checked that the store data is not checked is there any other setting that will help refresh the data?

Exception: DefaultAnimation.gif can not be found

$

I am using the latest Crystal Reports for Visual Studio (Support Pack 16, v.13.0.16.1954) with Visual Studio 2013 Professional.

I have a class MyCrystalViewer (written in C++) that is derived from CrystalDecisions::Windows::Forms::CrystalReportViewer.

When the subclass MyCrystalViewer is instantiated, I receive an exception claiming that resource 'DefaultAnimation.gif' cannot be found in class.

This seems to be a well known problem as described in http://scn.sap.com/thread/1836467.  In this post, the following line

this.progressAnimationImage = new Bitmap(base.GetType(), "DefaultAnimation.gif");

of the CrystalReportViewer class was identified as the problem. This code looks for the file "DefaultAnimation.gif" not in the CrystalReportViewer assembly but in MyCrystalViewer. The workaround that has been proposed in the above mentioned thread is to create a new file "DefaultAnimation.gif" and include it in your assembly. Basically offering an alternative file during runtime.

Since I am not using C#, this workaround does not work for me. Does anyone know a similar workaround for C++ projects? Porting my source code to C# is not an option at the moment.

I would greatly appreciate any help,

Thank you

Michael

Crystal Reports Viewer works on one server, not another

I am having a problem with deploying my Visual Studio Project to a Windows 2012 Server running ASP.NET Framework 4.0.30319

The SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET framework (32 bit) is installed and shows as version 13.0.13.1597.

I have successfully deployed to a similar server (same framework, same runtime).  The only difference between the servers is that the bad server has the web root folder on E:\Web instead of under c:\inetpub\wwwroot.

I copied the aspnet_client from c:\inetpub\wwwroot to e:\web, but am still getting a bobj undefined error.

I am seeing some different behavior in Process Monitor - on the bad server, for some reason there is an attempt to open E:\web\aspnet_client\system_web\4_6_1069, but that folder does not exist.

I am not sure why this server is attempting to look in that folder and the good server isn't, or if this is even a problem.

Can someone help me diagnose/work around the bobj error?

Thanks,

-->Vince
