Use project datasources

Hello,

I am basically just starting to learn/use Crystal Reports with VS 2010, I would like to use my project datasources/datasets for my reports, however I cannot get any records to display, I always have to create a new OLE SQL Server datasource to get any data to display in my report.

I create a new Crystal Report then

Project Data

     ADO .NET Datasets

          Pick my project dataset/table from the list, added it to the "Selected Tables" list

               Click Next

                    Add ALL fields to the "Fields to Display" List

                         Click Next

                              Skip Group By

                                   Click Next

                                        Skip Filter Fields

                                             Click Finish

All my fields show up on the report, I dont see any records though whenever I Preview the report, or when I add a Crystal Report Viewer to a form, then add the report.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

MW

Hi All,

I have a VS 2010 WebApplication. when i deployed it to server it is showing this error "Could not load file or assembly 'log4net' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format". when i remove reference to crystal report, it is working fine.

both development and  production OS are 64 bit.

I checked windows/assembly and the log4net version is 1.2.10.0 and i learned from search that .net framework 4.0 needs 1.2.11.0. is this the exact problem

please guide me to  solve this issue.

Crystal Reports Unhandled Exception Error (CRPE)

$

I get an Unhandled Exception error from Crystal Reports. I have SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4.  For some reason, both 32-bit and 64-bit show up in my Control Panel.  Here are the details:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application...The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.CRPE' threw an

exception".

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Crystal Reports.  I've tried going into the registry and removing everything related to SAP Business Objects.  I've also deleted all SAP Business Objects folders from my C drive before reinstalling.  Nothing seems to work.  Please help.

The full details of the error are as follows:

Crystal Reports custom zoom dialogbox

Hi,

I am using Visual Studio 2010 VB.NET and Crystal Reports for VS.

I'm having a problem when the user selects "Customize..." in the Zoom of the Crystal Reports Viewer at runtime.

The Crystal Reports rptViewer is placed in a Windows form, which displays at full screen (maximized) AND has the property 'TopMost' at 'True'.

The Windows form also has no title-bar because the user is not allowed to minimize the Report.

I added a button 'Print' and a button 'Close' to the Windows form, that is all I need.

I did leave the standard Zoom-button on the Crystal Reports Viewer.

Now here comes the problem :

selecting "Customize..." on the Zoom-button results in the 'Custom Zoom Dialog'-popup NOT appearing and totally blocking my application (and in fact the whole computer).

Well, it appears for a millisecond but then disappears behind my form because of the TopMost = True property of the form !

And because the user is blocked from using alt-tab, Windows-button, ctrl-alt-del and things, the whole application is blocked (the only thing the user can do now is shutdown the PC with the hardware start-stop-button) !

My 'Close' button on the form does not get focus anymore because the 'Custom Zoom Dialog'-popup has focus (somewhere underneath my previewed report) and is waiting for input (the percentage to which to zoom) but I am unable to access that.

Is't the 'Custom Zoom Dialog'-popup supposed to be ALWAYS on top ?

It obviously isn't and it's causing a big problem for me (is this a known bug ?).

Is there any solution to this apart from removing the Zoom-button on the report viewer (rptViewer.ShowZoomButton = False) and adding a custom-made Zoom-button with custom-made drop-down-list for zoom-percentages on the form itself ?

Thanks in advance,

Stef

Crystal Reports Vs Crystal Reports for Visual Studio

Hi,

I have searched for the following information for a while with no success, so I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.

I am investigating the use of Crystal Reports for one of the applications that I manage.  We have enterprise-wide licenses for Visual Studio and I have installed the Crystal Reports module successfully.  I am now trying to do an assessment against using the Crystal Reports for Visual Studio Vs purchasing a Crystal Reports Developer Full Product license.

As part of that assessment I would like to know what functionality is available in the full product Vs what is available in the Visual Studio module.  Does the Visual Studio module have all of the same functionality?  If not, is there somewhere where I can view a comparison between the two?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

CR2011 VS2010 Deployment

We finally decided to use Crystal Reports at our company and we just bought SAP Crystal Reports 2011 (About SAP Crystal Reports shows CR Developer Version 14.0.4.738 RTM Product Type: Full).  This is the first/only product we have purchased/installed/tested (no other Business Objects/SAP anything).  Our goal is to develop reports to include in VS2010 Windows and Web projects (mostly Windows).

I found the installer to put the report viewer on my VS2010 toolbox.  I found the SAP Crystal Reports .Net SDK Developer Guide, crnet_dg_2010_en.chm, and made a test report and project that actually works.

In the scenario I'm setting up, I'm putting my Crystal Reports (.rpt files) in a network folder and using them as a non-embedded resource in my application(s).  My apps are built to use the .Net Framework 4.0 Extended.

So far, things work on my development machine and I'm working on running the app on other client computers.  Naturally, the problem I ran into is that those computers have nothing Crystal Reports installed and I got the message about finding the appropriate CRRedist*.msi.

This is where I'm having a problem.  I've gone to many different SAP pages to download what I thought was the redistributable.  I have CRforVS2010_sp1_redist32.zip (and 64) and  four zip files liker CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0.zip (13_0 or 13_0_5 for both 32 and 64 bit).  But as far as I can determine, these are just installing CR for VS for me.  (I'll test that claim again.)

Then I found actual CRRedist2005x64.msi and CRRedist2005x86.msi files on my development systems.  It happens that my VS IDE's are all upgrades from VS2002 through VS2005 to VS2010.  So I took that CRRedist2005x64.msi and installed on my Windows 7 64-bit system.  Now my app works fine on that computer (which has no .Net Framework installed other than 4 Client Profile and Extended).

Is that really the solution for CR2011 and VS2010, to use a 2005 runtime?

I'll have to figure out how to uninstall that from my Windows 7 64-bit systems so I can test the CRRuntime_64bit_13_0.msi (there's another issue).  But are CRRuntime_64bit_13_0.msi and CRRuntime_32bit_13_0.msi what I'm supposed to use on client computers?

Thank you,

Gary

Report is not displayed in local web, but it is displayed in VS enviroment

Hi,

I am working on a mvc web application using vs2012. The crystal report is displayed correctly without problem in vs 2012 environment. But when I try to open it in the local web site (http://localhost/mywebsitename/report and click a button to show the report, I got an error : A document processed by the JRC engine cannot be opened in the C++. I solved the problem by copying the .rpt file to web site physical path. Also I had changed the .rpt file security permission and let all users have full control on it.

But now when I click the button, the web page changes to all blank, show nothing, even no error message. What is the problem?

Thank you.

Bug in CR.NET? Setting condition fields of groups

Hi

I think I've found a bug in the CR .NET API.

I want to change the condition fields on the groups in a two-group report. If I change the condition field in the first group, then in the second group, they end up unchanged. However if I change them in the second group, then the first group, they are changed correctly.

Is this a known problem? If not, I can supply a C# project that illustrates the problem.

Cheers

Bug in CR. NET? Cannot set group sort direction to "original order"

$

This code fails:

SortController.ModifySortDirection(sort, CrSortDirectionEnum.crSortDirectionNoSortOrder)

It throws this error:

An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in <my program>.exe

Additional information: The sort direction is not valid

The parameter "sort" is a CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.Sort representing the sorting for a group. The condition field of the group is a string field, so original order is valid. In fact in the CR designer I can set the sort order of this group to "original order" with no problem.

I created a crystal report in Asp.net C# language 2010 version using SQL SERVER 2008 version

Below is the code:

usingSystem.Collections.Generic;
usingSystem.Linq;
usingSystem.Web;
usingSystem.Web.UI;
usingSystem.Web.UI.WebControls;
usingSystem.Web.Security;
usingCrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine;
usingSystem.Data;
usingSystem.Data.SqlClient;

publicpartialclass user_sample :System.Web.UI.Page
{

protectedvoidPage_Load(object sender,EventArgs e)

{

SqlConnection connection =newSqlConnection("Data Source=KENNETH-PC;Initial Catalog=libdb;Integrated Security=True");

SqlCommand command =newSqlCommand("Select top 10 * From Customer", connection);

SqlDataAdapter adapter =newSqlDataAdapter(command);

//Customer _Customer = new Customer();

DataSet dataset =newDataSet();
        adapter
.Fill(dataset,"customer");

ReportDocumentCustomerReport=newReportDocument();

CustomerReport.Load(Server.MapPath("CustomerReport.rpt"));

CustomerReport.SetDataSource(dataset.Tables["Customer"]);

CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource=CustomerReport;

CrystalReportViewer1.DataBind();

}

protectedvoidButton1_Click(object sender,EventArgs e)

{

FormsAuthentication.SignOut();

Response.Redirect("userlogin.aspx",true);

}
}

I got an error message like this:

Server Error in '/rolebasedweb' Application.

Programmatic Multiple Column Sorting

$

VS2010 - CR2011: I have read many of the pages cited regarding sorting and I came up with the code below for my test.  I would appreciate your feedback to confirm that I'm on the right track.  I'm using a report that I put in a folder on the network.  I want to collect the user's choices for filtering and sorting and then set the properties of the report document accordingly.

I do have one question regarding sorting.  As I understand this, I need to set up my report with as many sort fields as I might use from my program.  So if I provide up to four sort fields and one of my options uses two sort fields, do the 3rd and 4th sort fields in the report continue to influence the sort order?  (If so, how do I stop that?)

Here's my code for testing how to set up sorting on three fields:

                ProjectSummary = new ReportDocument();
                ProjectSummary.Load("H:\\Crystal Reports\\ProjectTrackingSummary.rpt");

                FieldDefinition fd0 = ProjectSummary.Database.Tables["prjpf001"].Fields["pcmp_001"];
                SortField sf0 = ProjectSummary.DataDefinition.SortFields[0];
                sf0.Field = fd0;

                FieldDefinition fd1 = ProjectSummary.Database.Tables["prjpf001"].Fields["asdt_001"];
                SortField sf1 = ProjectSummary.DataDefinition.SortFields[1];
                sf1.Field = fd1;

                FieldDefinition fd2 = ProjectSummary.Database.Tables["prjpf001"].Fields["loc#_001"];
                SortField sf2 = ProjectSummary.DataDefinition.SortFields[2];
                sf2.Field = fd2;

                crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = ProjectSummary;

Thank you,

Gary
